PSN members: Here's how to get free identity protection
A while ago Sony promised that it would provide individuals affected by the PlayStation Network security breach with a year of free identity protection service and the company is now making good on that offer.
Joystiq reports that Sony has posted a sign up form which will allow people with PlayStation Network or Qriocity accounts to receive an activation code for a free year of the AllClear ID PLUS identity protection service. All they need to do is enter the email address used to register those existing PlayStation Network or Qriocity accounts and click the "submit" button.
It's that simple and within 72 hours they should receive their activation code.
As Sony reminds us, it's worth keeping in mind that the identity protection service is provided by a third party. So if something goes wrong with that, don't throw the blame on Sony:
